A lovely cowl design by Skeinwalker Knits, Mulberry Sage is here combined with delicious yarn and the chance to add the glowing bling of beads --- a wonderful match-up!

The way to get this pattern is via Aline's Ravelry page. This puts a copy in your Ravelry library and ensures you get any updates right away.  What we offer here is yarn and possibly beads (if you so decide).

The Design

Here is what Aline, the awesome designer, writes:

I live in a townhouse with a tiny, minuscule garden, and a balcony almost as large as the garden. On my balcony lives a big sage plant with its elongated, textured and velvety leaves.

When I first discovered this leafy stitch pattern, I immediately thought of sage and mint.

Then followed images of strolls in parks and gardens back in France, of fragrant herbs, of sunny and warm evenings amidst flowers, bushes and trees.

The Mulberry Sage cowl is an ode to these places and memories. The main stitch pattern forms a canopy of leaves and is adorned with a choice of two lacy edgings to make the cowl symmetrical, or not.

Join me on this garden stroll and knit yourself a piece of nature with one of your precious skeins!

Yarn and Colorways

Our kits do not feature the same yarn as what Aline knit her original cowl with.  You can see our yarns in the inset photo on the top picture and again below that.

The photos of the original cowl by Aline are being used with her permission and are all © Skeinwalker Knits.

She writes that she used a pure merino fingering weight yarn, one with 383 yards/350 meters per 100 grams -- or more precisely, her cowl ended up using 93 grams which translates (math-wise) to about 356 yards (326m).

We chose a lovely yarn from Mrs Crosby, their Satchel, also a 100% superwash merino wool with about 370 yards/ 100g.

The colorway is called Spangled Cotinga and is a marvelous tonal blend of sea green and sky blue coming together to make a really gorgeous colorway.

On looking at the Project Pages for this cowl, I noticed quite a few lovely pieces had been knit with somewhat variegated yarns.  So I have no reservation offering that this will look awesome.

Beads?

As I wandered, looking at finished piece, there was one cowl I noticed on the Project Pages that had been knit with some lovely 6/0 beads added -- take a look here

So I thought that some of our knitters might enjoy adding beads to their piece. We are offering the choice of getting the yarn only for this kit or the yarn + about 20g of size 6/0 beads.  That will give you about 240 beads.

That option can be gotten via the drop-down menu.

It will be up to you to decide where to put the beads.  If you have a preference color-wise, let me know; otherwise I will choose for you.
