I think of this as a "blast from the past"!

Those of you who knit in the 1990s may recall the craze for fancy novelty yarns for scarves. Well, Mystique is just that kind of yarn and it is pretty darn special.

I love love love love (!) the idea of knitting it (along with perhaps a lace weight yarn?) and making any one of the free patterns for Potato Chip Scarves

*****

Each ball of Mystique is made up of 69% Nylon/ 26% Polyester/ 5% Lurex with 52 yards/ 50g.  It is rated as a bulky weight; Knitting Fever estimates about 3 stitches to the inch on size 10.5 needles.

The yarn itself seems to be a combination of eyelash in varying colors, mohair-ish yarn, and a multicolor railroad yarn.

We brought in five colorways -- I will do my best to describe them:

1.  Purple Metallic is mostly purple, the eyelash being a lilac and a purple metallic with purple mohair plus there are bright chenille stretches (railroad style) of gold, red, pink, teal and green.

2.  Black Purple Metallic has eyelashes of very pale lilac (almost white) as well as black and purple metallic with black mohair and pops of white and wisteria in the rainroad style.

3. Teal Purple Metallic is similar to the Purple Metallic though the mohair-like yarn is teal and the chenile stretches are pale aqua and gold.

4.  Pale Blue Metallic has light blue and darker blue eyelash with copper metallic, the mohair-ish yarn is light blue and the chenilele glowing trhough seems to be silver and gold.

5.  White Metallic has white eyelash with silver metallics, white mohair yarn and the chenile pops are gold into dark brown.
