Another new Mystery Knit Along (MKAL) that we are participating in with The Unique Sheep (TUS) and designed by Janine LeCras.

How it works:

Please note that here we are taking Pre-Orders:  This means that your yarn will be dyed in the colorway of your choice and in the yarn base that you choose.

(You can find our policy here on shipping and pre-orders.)

There are optional beads (you decide if you want them or not).  This whole process takes time, of course.

Here are the important dates:

The MKAL begins March 6, 2020.

Sing-ups will remain open through to February 6thAnyone who orders by that date can be assured that your order will arrive before the KAL.  Ordering between February 6 and March 6 means we'll try our best, but no promises.

Our next KAL is inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis!

Designed by Janine le Cras, this square shawl is worked in fingering weight yarn and can be knit in any of our fingering weight bases.

We chose the square shape for this winter's KAL because it also works great as a snuggly blanket if you have enough shawls already. Knit it in cozy Pashmi for a warm winter couch throw or choose a superwash wool or bamboo/cotton for a baby blanket that will be prized for generations!

Special Note about shape: This shawl is designed as a full square. Because square and circular shawls can be a challenge to wear, it will also be offered as a poncho or cape or even as a 3/4 square-- i.e. a square with a hole in the middle and/or slit down the front. Instructions will be included for BOTH versions!

The Pattern

The pattern will be emailed to you in pieces. On the first day you'll receive the instructions for the first part of the pattern. In the following weeks you'll receive the rest of the pattern, bit by bit. But you won't see a finished picture of the shawl until the very end!

Weekly "clues" will be sent out either via email or sent to your Ravelry library.  If you want the clues stored in your Ravelry library, make sure to let us know your Rav name when you order.

We'd love to have you join us on this knitting adventure!

Announcements and conversation will take place on the Ravelry group board so please join us there! The designer (Janine le Cras) and the dyers (Kelly Eells and Laura Lough) will be active on the Ravelry board and Facebook Group to answer questions about the pattern and cheer you on!

We here at Earth Faire also offer membership in this MKAL -- you can purchase the yarn with or without the beads in any of our exclusive signature colorways or indeed in any colorway that The Unique Sheep offers.

Note that the price varies depending on your yarn preference. Please make sure to select the correct option for the yarn of your choice.

About The Beads

If you wish to add beads, plan on about 1150 size 6/0 beads.  Anyone who selects the bead option for their kit will get well more than that amount.  If you have a preference for bead color, let me know.  Otherwise I will choose for you.

Yarn and Colorways

You can see more data on the yarns offered as well as a bit more about our colorways on this web page here.   And most of our colorways can be seen on these Flickr pages.

(**** Please note however that some of the special "EarthFaire" fingering weight yarns can not be available for this MKAL, alas.  Some are not available to the dyers in cones and with the time constraints of dyeing so many orders to a deadline, it was felt that some just couldn't be part of this. The yarns that are possible for this MKAL are all listed in the drop-down menu.****)

This MKAL also offers one more special yarn option: Not only can you select from any of the fingering weight bases we usually offer but we are also offering a special Linen/Silk blend base that we don't normally carry. The linen and silk are lightly blended so that it dyes up with a heathered look with subtle slubs. Though this is a winter KAL, we know that many of you will be finishing your shawls just in time for early spring so we thought a warmer weather yarn option might be fun.

Plus!  Besides the "normal" fingering weight yarns from The Unique Sheep and this special Linen/Silk one, we also can offer one additional signature EarthFaire yarn you might like to choose:  Luna, 75% superwash Merino, 20% nylon, 5% Stellina.  You will have a silver-toned stellina fiber.

Price: the price varies depending on your yarn preference. Please make sure to select the correct option for the yarn of your choice.

And be assured that we are honoring the special 10% off coupon code that was sent with the last clue of the last MKAL (The Little Engine) if you took part in that one with The Unique Sheep.

Just some additional notes:

If your choice of colorway is one of the circles, we have two wonderful options for you.

1.  You might select 6 consecutive numbers from the photos and your yarn will be dyed in 6 skeins using those colors.

2.  Or!  You might like to get the entire circle as your colorway -- in this case, your yarn will be dyed in 12 half-skeins so you get the full 12-step circle.

Either is fine; either is tremendous fun!  Just be sure to let me know as you check out.

Again, data on our special colorways can be found here as well as photos here

And one additional note: we are going to assume you want a Gradiance set unless you tell me differently.  And if you want a colorway that is not listed on the drop-down menu above, select "Other" and let us know.

If you have any questions or would like any additional information, just contact me.

The colors you see in the photos here are simply ideas of colorways that sort of sing songs of Narnia....
