This kit for Neko is a close cousin to our Ursula Bear Hug Cowl kit.  Neko is a cat; Ursula is a bear.  They are both marvelous.

Please make sure to get your pattern directly from the designer on her Rav page here What we have for these kits are yarn and safety-eyes for making this a really special piece.

The Design

Here is what Noël Margaret says about her design:

Neko, The Cozy Cat Cowl, offers warmth, luck and even a much needed cuddle on those blustery cold days.

Neko was inspired by both my beloved cat ‘Bird’ and the Maneki-neko totems (otherwise known as the Japanese beckoning cat figurines). Bird was a very friendly, cuddly cat with a gray tortoiseshell coat so soft and smooth that it truly felt like a silken cloud. She sat on my shoulder and “chirped” as a kitten, then as an adult would often sleep on my chest and snuggle up close to my neck. The Maneki-neko figurines have a beautiful history dating back to the Edo Period with universal symbolism of bearing good luck and fortune… and wouldn’t you know that a calico colored Maneki-neko is supposedly the luckiest color totem too!

Our Kit

First of all, this is not the same yarn that Noel used in her original.  You can see what we have in the inset photo on the lower right hand corner of the top picture and again below that.

We also are also not including incidentals like the small amount of stuffing that is needed, nor embroidery floss or needles.

The yarn we have for Kits A, B, and C, is Uneek Chunky, a 100% extrafine superwash merino with 99 yards/ 150g skein.

As the pattern calls for 100 - 110 yards (91 - 101 m), one should work fine.  So we are including one skein per kit.

The colors are bright and happy and stripe somewhat with moderately long color runs.  Take a look at the Project Pages to get an idea of how varying colors will come together.

Kit A:  Colorway #5019 I see as a sunlit summer day:  deep blues and purples, pinks, olives, teals and goldenrod. (Sorry, sold out)

Kit B:   Colorway #5017 is to me more of a lake colorway with cool blues and purples, some golds and reds and just a suggestion of green.

Kit C: Colorway #5002 is sort of Van Gogh's sunflowers, with olives and rusts, brown and blue, chartreuse and green.

And if you would like these as well, we can include is at least one pair of "safety eyes", specially make eye pieces that have locking markers.  (They should not be used for cowls made for toddlers but anyone older would likely like the look they add to the whole.)  Make the selection via the other drop-down menu, labeled "Kit" for the yarn only or the yarn plus eyes.
