I knit up a swatch of the Carnelian just to see what it was like. It has a shimmery quality that is hard to describe, but the colors remind me of silk sari fabric. The colors range from a deep wine red to an almost golden orange, mixed with pink and a blue-grey. I cannot wait to find a project to go with this yarn!

Our Orphan Yarns are high-quality yarns that we have a limited quantity of.

So if you have a great idea for these, you will be able to get a goodly amount of yardage at a great price.

They are discounted significantly as we would like them to find a good home.

This is an interesting fingering weight wool blend from Louisa Harding called Luci.  Of 41% Virgin Wool, 41% Acrylic, 18% Viscose, each pre-wound ball has 349 yards/ 100g.

It is categorized by KFI as fingering/ sock weight (6.75-8 sts = 1").

The yarn is plied and the colorways have lovely semi-long color runs, long enough to create great sections of color.  You can get an idea of the look it creates by perusing these pattern pages.

Carnelian is a lovely mix of reds and roses, magentas and soft slate blue-grey.

Amaranthine is a sunset over the forest: gold and red and green and blue.

Andesine reminds me of the sky just at dusk with dark blue and light blue and subtle pinks along with some light browns.

And there is a free pattern here, using Luci and letting the color changes really shine!
