The Yarn and Colorway

The yarn is from Koigu, what is called a Pencil Box, made up of 9 mini skeins, 87 yards/25g each.

The colorway here is called Silent Purple.  Each skein has some degree of purple to it, some also playing with other hues and some staying within that one color family.

Bear in mind that the yarns are truly handpainted one-of-a-kinds and though they are very close duplicates one to the next, there are always some slight differences in how they look.

If you are interested, there have been two recent patterns in Vogue Knitting Magazine that use these.

One is by Alexandra Davidoff, Pétale de Rose is design #18 in the Late Winder 2020 issue. We show it on this page.

(Vogue Knitting does offer copies of the magazine in print form or digital.)

To quote the designer:

Pretty pink petals adorn the lower edge while diamond eyelet lace runs along the body of this one sleeve wrap.

This wrap begins with the petal stitch edge, and ends with a shaped sleeve with a twisted rib cuff.

And!  Alexandra is running a KAL on her Ravelry forum here, starting June 20th, the first day of summer.  Such fun!

There is also another beauty, a lovely Departure Shawl from the spring/summer 2020 edition of Vogue Knitting (see last 2 photos on this page)

Here is what the magazine says:

A reversible lace pattern and contrasting edges are in perfect harmony with the riotous colors of this large triangular shawl in bright, punchy hues.  It becomes an utterly modern accessory.

Extra Special: Expansive size gives a triangular shawl ample styling opportunities.  Show its full glory resting on your shoulders, or wrap it cozily around your neck.

This one requires only one pencil box.  It was originally knit in a color combo called Romantique though it would look great also in Silent Purple.
