Oh my goodness gracious!

Sivia has done it again. I am in awe -- this one is truly breath-taking.

Originally written as part of Lace Year 2008, this pattern has been revamped and re-released and we are thrilled to be able to offer it.

Sivia writes:

"There is nothing simple about this elaborate beaded shawl, a variation on the basic top down triangle. A flame-like, textured center panel makes all the difference. The shawl begins with only a few cast on stitches at the top and increases quickly with additional back neck shaping. After the wavy diagonals on the sides morph into textured diamonds, the shawl finishes with a beautiful beaded edge."

There are some differences between last year's version and this new one. Sivia has added beads into the flame-like center lace panel, and there is a brand new beaded lace edge -- perfect!

The original yarn was Sweet Georgia Yarns' Cashsilk lace, a wonderful blend of 45% cashmere, 50% silk that is truly sinfully soft. Any of our Eos would work perfectly here, or the lace weight alpaca from J-Knits as well. You want a total of about 1200 yards of lace weight yarn.

Yum!

Needed also is 266 size 8/0 beads.

The beads shown in the photos here are from us -- they were 8/0 triangles in the Magenta Lined Amethyst AB colorway. Wow.

If you order yarn from us at the same time as you get this pattern, we will put together 8/0 beads for you -- either triangles or round depending on what looks great with the yarn you choose. That is our special bead gift for this wonderful design.

The finished dimensions are 78" across the top at the widest point and 32" long at the center back. Sivia used size 3 (3.25mm) needles, a 32" circular, and you will also need one of our very very thin crochet hooks to add the beads with (about 0.6mm) -- available in our Hooks and Needles section of the website.

This is a truly heirloom quality shawl.

We think it is gorgeous.
