And third in the marvelous series that Jennifer Dassau has create as one-skein wonders, with intriguingly unusual construction: here is Piewhacket!

Here is what Jennifer has to say:

The third in a series of shawls exploring non-traditional shaping with short rows, Piewhacket is a one-skein garter shawl constructed from three sequential short row triangles which build on each other, with a final uneven edging knit from live stitches and using additional short rows. The resulting asymmetrical shape drapes perfectly around the neck and shoulders, and is completely reversible for ultimate wearability. The short row shaping means never having to work a huge number of stitches for very long, and also makes good use of variegated yarn, although it looks just as lovely in a semi solid.

I love it! Such an interesting yet simple knit.

The original one that she knit, as shown here, was made using Malabrigo Yarn Sock (100% superwash merino, 440 yards); 1 skein, shown in Abril. The sample used only approximately 375 yards of light fingering weight yarn -- so you can certainly indulge yourself in real beauty for this one.

This pattern makes only one size: one size; 52” wingspan and 8” depth (12” depth at points).

And as a by-the-way, I just put up some stunning merino/silk blend fingering weight yarns called Tokyo-- I'd highly recommend them for this simple shawl. The colors will really shine.

I could also see one of the yarns with long color repeats making an amazing piece as well -- check out what we have on our Fingering Weight Yarn section.

I predict much joy in the knitting!
