This has long been a favorite of mine.

By Dorothy Siemens, here is how she describes her Polka-Dot Stole

The Polka-dot Stole is a lighthearted yet pretty and feminine stole. The large lace dots at the ends and in the middle panel are echoed in the smaller eyelet holes which “dot” the stole.

It is worked by knitting from one end to the other, following the charts in a logical progression. Afterwards, the optional knitted balls are sewn on. Most of the stole is worked in garter stitch and it is completely reversible.

The Yarn and Colorways

The original yarn that Dorothy used for her original has long been discontinued.  We offer here other fingering weight yarn that we think will look very fine indeed. You can see our yarn in the inset photo on the top picture and again below that.

The yarn is from The Unique Sheep and is their new Kiri.

Kiri is a tussah silk and superwash merino fingering weight yarn. The 4-ply structure produces a smooth, round yarn with a soft but firm hand. The 20% Tussah Silk is well blended without any slubs. The silk adds a nice bit of luster without being shiney.

A great yarn for knitting lace patterns, it has a beautiful drape, excellent stitch definition and it blocks well.

Dragon's Dawn:  This colorway is a real favorite of mine.  It actually was inspired by a beautiful iris that had all the colors of dawn.  And so was born Dragon's Dawn, a wonderful melody of apricots and pinks and fuchsias and even a touch of violet. Striking. (Sorry, sold out)

A Walk By The Shore:  Another gentle colorway that really sings. Sky blues into truer blues, into purples and violets into a sandy delight.  Beautiful.

Each kit will include a 6-skein set, 144 yards each x 6 = 864 yards for a total (about 8 ounces in full).  Which should work very well indeed for this design.

No, there are no beads as part of this pattern per se.  However, that doesn't mean you couldn't add them -- there are lots of places in the intriguing stitchwork where the glow of a bead would be a lovely thing to behold.  Plus there are the neat dangles at the ends -- what do you think of some beads there?

Regardless, we are offering the option to get (if you wish) a 20 gram container of 6/0 beads (that will give you roughly 240 beads).  Make your selection via the drop-down menu until the top photo.

The Pattern

Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern.  I know that some of you might already have it or might prefer getting it from the designer's Ravelry page. In that case, set the Pattern drop-down menu to "No Pattern Needed."

We are offering it here as a PDF only.  That is the other option on that drop-down menu.

Just know that if we are emailing the pattern to you, it is not automatic; I have to send it.  You can expect it to be emailed right before we ship your package.
