We were able to add another set of yarns for Kit B, with a very slight change. Read on!
Another wonderful creation from Natalia Moreva, Princess Peacock is (to quote the designer) a cousin of Royal Peacock.
Be sure to get the pattern directly from her Ravelry page. What we have here is the yarn as described below.
It is knit in three steps.
The first is the middle stripe with the feathers, which is worked sideways.
Stitches for the top and bottom parts of the shawl are picked up from the sides of the middle stripe.
Techniques used: garter, slipped stitches, short rows, decreases/increases.
The Yarn and Colorways
As far as colors and yarns go, this shawl can be knit using two colors. Natalia says that what is needed is 140-150 g (600m) of fingering yarn total of which about 70 g should be the main color; and 70 g should be the contrast color. She recommends solid, gradient, sectional, even self-striping yarn for the contrast color just as long as it is in good contrast with the main one.
Here is what we put together:
The solid Main Color will be Debbie Bliss Rialto 4-ply, 100% wool with 198 yards (180m) per 50g ball. Two balls will be in each kit. The colorway is Stone, a lovely medium gray.
As a lovely self-striping yarn, we include Katia's Darling, with 60% virgin wool/ 40% nylon, 208 yards (190m) per ball. Again, two skeins will be in the kit. Here we have Darling in the colorway #212, which includes long runs of black, purple, merlot, rose and charcoal.
For the solid MC instead of two skeins of Staccato in Abyss, we now have one skein of Malabrigo's Mechita, 420 yards/ 100g of 100% superwash merino, in a pure Black.
This kit has Darling Rainbow, same yardage and fiber content, though the color runs are a bit shorter. This is in colorway #308, a vibrant and rich rianbow of colors that includes just about all of the hues of the specturm. (2 balls in each kit.)
(Sorry, sold out)
