This is a lovely shawl and a wonderful piece on which to learn Xandy Peter's "stacked knitting" techniques.
This web page offers you the yarn only -- you must go to Xandy's Ravelry page to get the pattern.
Here is what Xandy writes:
Waves of shifting color radiate from the center point of this shawl in a pulsating pattern. All of the color changes happen automatically due to the self striping yarn, creating an interesting interplay of color as the rows get longer.
The Yarn and Colorways
Xandy's original shawl was knit using Noro Silk Garden. Now while I love Noro yarns, I know there are many who do not and so I did some hunting.
And recently I fell in love with a few new colorways of Skacel's Reggae Ombre. This is a 100% merino with long color runs and 110 yards/ 50g.
We put photos of our yarn in the inset pictures in the top photo on this page and again below that.
As the design calls for 500 - 550 yards (457 - 503 m) of Aran weight with long color runs, we will include 5 skeins per kit.
1. Fliederduft (translates to Lilac Scented in English) gives you cool colors running from a very pale cloud blue, deepening into darker blues and then into violets. Really delicious. (Sorry, sold out)
2. Flussbett (translation is Riverbed) is lovely woodland colors, from pale aqua into light blue and then olive and golden amber. Rich and warm. (Sorry, sold out)
3. Herbstwind (Autumn Wind) gives you red into brown into sand into teal. Vibrant!
4. Aldebaran (this one I couldn't find a translation for) just might be my personal favorite. It runs from a soft gray into deeper and then morphs into rose and mauve. A Victorian look. (Sorry, sold out)
Make your choice from the drop-down menu. And have fun!
