A really lovely lace shawl, chock full of beads!
By Anna Victoria, we present here kits for knitting her River Maiden Lace Shawl.
Please plan to get the pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page. What we have put together is lovely yarn and beads for this creation.
Note that the pattern is charted; there are no line-by-line descriptions.
Here is what Anna writes about this shawl:
Top down crescent shawl with nupps and beads. Inspired by Goldberry - she had long, yellow hair and her voice was beautiful, “as young and as ancient as spring, like the song of a glad water flowing down into the night from a bright morning in the hills.”-JRR Tolkien.
The Yarn and Colorway
We have for our kits a different yarn than the original one Anna used in her shawl. You can see our yarn in the inset photo on the top picture and again below that.
This yarn is from Katia and is called Silk Degradé. It is a perfect warm-weather combo of fibers: 35% Cotton, 35% Silk, 30% Viscose.
KFI rates it as a DK weight yarn but with 656 yards in each 150g pre-wound disk it could easily work up as a fingering weight as well.
This colorway is #304, a beautiful gradually changing colorway going from a sky blue to a sunshine yellow to a cloud gray.
Interestingly this gradient colorway gives a look quite similar to the one that Anna selected for her original shawl.
Anna's piece that is shown here used 1,151 beads. For this yarn, 6/0s are going to fit well and thus what is needed is close to 100 grams of beads.
This is what will be included in each kit. If you have a preference on color, let me know. Otherwise I will choose for you.
That is if you use beads instead of nupps in this design.
If you would rather knit the nupps or even alternate beads with nupps, or any design decision along those lines, just contact me and we'll set you up with a kit that better meets your needs.
Reminder: Pick up the pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page.
