Catie sent us a pattern to make a most intriguing knit shrug, perfect for the hot days of summer, named after one of her most favorite vacation spots.

Though it would also be great during the cool days of winter.

Or whenever, actually. :-)

Here is how Catie describes it:

"Light, lacy, and lovely!

"This shrug is the perfect weight for sultry summer weather or a warming winter layer!

"It’s knit in a simple lace pattern using yarn-overs and garter stitch.

"Make it in bamboo or cotton for summer, or in angora or alpaca for winter.

"Stunning!"

The design is quite simple indeed and would be a great vacation project. All it requires is about 500 yards of a DK or Lit Worsted weight yarn. Catie recommends a circular size 8 (5mm) needle, 36" long or more.

Fun in a solid color or in a variegated -- you can see it below in two options to give you the idea of how your yarn might turn out to look. This is a great palette for creativity!
