An absolutely gorgeous design, this piece by Kristina Vilimaite of AnimaKnits just sings to me in so many ways!

The Design

Here is how Kristina describes this beautiful Seeds to Flowers Cowl:

I love wearing shawls, but it is no fun when a tip of one dangles into my food or gets into my cooking. So here is my Seeds to Flowers shawl tipless, converted to a cowl, which nevertheless has a nice curve both at the top and at the bottom edges. Call it a scowl.

Seeds to Flowers Cowl is the first pattern from the Recowled e-book. The knitting starts at the top with just a few stitches. While working the stockinette body flat, plant some beads for seeds. The rest is worked in the round: stems and leaves of Japanese lace, Estonian lace buds and blossoming flowers sprinkled with dew-like beads.

The cowl is designed for fingering weight yarn. The size can be easily adjusted by working more or fewer rows of the stockinette body.

This one really sings to me.

The Yarn

Indulgence Kettle-Dyed Fingering is a delcious 75% Superwash Merino+ 25% nylon blend. It feels truly squishy and delightful.  And with 494 yards per skein, just one is enough for this cowl.

The sample you see here as knit by Kristina was done in Malabrigo Sock Yarn -- so you see that this kit is offering a different yarn as well as a different colorway.  We have no reservations on Indulgence; it was aptly named.  We show you the photos of the original cowl so you can see the design.  Now use your imagination a bit....

Yup! Gorgeous, don't you agree?

The Colorways

1. Waterfall is a delicate blue, with very gentle subtleties of tone.

2. Wisteria is a pale almost-solid of lilac.

3. Violet is a rich fuchsia with slight tendencies to the violet family.

4. Ash is a gentle medium grey.

The Beads

Kristina recommends 237 beads in either size 8/0 or 6/0.  She used 8/0s for hers for a very subtle look.

Indulgence can take the larger 6/0s nicely and they will stand out and make a statement so that is also a possibility.

We offer a choice of what will be included in each kit -- between 20 grams and 25 grams of 6/0s to give you roughly between 240 and 300 beads or between 6g - 10g of 8/0s which would give you between 240 and 400 beads.

If you have a preference or an idea of what color of bead you'd like, tell me.  Otherwise, I will choose for you.

The Pattern

Note also that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Kristina via her Ravelry web page.

Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.

We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and generally do so right before I ship your kit).

This is a real beauty.  Fun to knit, gorgeous to wear.
