And one more wonderful one from Nim Teasdale!

Shawl of Many Shapes was specially designed to suit any yardage and any yarn weight from lace to DK. Beads are a wonderful option as well.

The Design

Here is how Nim describes this design:

The Shawl of Many Shapes is 4 patterns in one. The same stitch pattern has been used in 4 different shapes giving the knitter a choice of crescent, 3/4 squareish-circle (aka squircle), triangle, or ‘cresangle’. Or all of the above.

Each shape uses a small repeatable chart which can be repeated to any size, and is highly adaptable as to yardage.

Work all over lace, edging lace only, or something in between.

Short enough to be easy to memorise.

Work entirely from the written pattern or from charts.

Optional beading included.

Suitable for lace to DK weight (all but the crescent could go up to Aran weight.)

The pattern is a mini lesson in shawl shaping and includes all 4 patterns in one. These can be printed as a whole, or select only the pages relevant to the shape you’re working on at the time.

Now for this, Nim recommends anything from 200 to 800 yards of yarn for this piece.

Nim recommends using beads to suit the yarn size, which in the case of fingering weight would tend us towards size 6/0s and if you choose lace weight, the smaller size 8/0s would look great.  If your yarn is heavier, contact us for some suggestions.
