Oh this one is lovely!

A new design by Chrissy of Left Side Knits, Shaw's Cove Shawl is a lovely shawl --- to make and to wear (or to gift?).

To quote Chrissy: Shaw’s Cove is a crescent shaped two-color shawl knit in one piece from the center-top outward. It is shaped by all the increasing done on the edging. With both charts and written instructions, knitters are able to choose the most comfortable way to follow the pattern.

All that is needed are two fingering weight yarns, solid colors or almost-solids, though it strikes me that tone-on-tone variegated ones would also look quite intriguing.

All that is needed are a main color with approximately 325 yards, and a contrast color, with about 200 yards. Or alternatively, you can make the full shawl in one colorway, using about 525 yards in total.

Chrissy notes that her testers used anywhere from 92 yards to 215 yards for the CC & anywhere from 227 yards to 380 yards for the MC, depending on gauge. So figure that in on this.

The original was knit using US size 5 (3.75 mm), 32-inch circular or length preferred for weight of yarn at a gauge of 26 sts/36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette.

Exact gauge is not important but do note that a looser gauge will result in the use of more yardage.

Finished Size is 50” across (opening wider because it was blocked with a curve) by 16” down spine.

Note that what we offer on this web page is the hard copy of the pattern -- nine pages printed out on heavy weight paper and slid into a sheet protector.

We hope you have a marvelous time browsing our fingering weight yarns and finding some beauties to make this with.

Lovely lovely lovely!
