Spring Creek by Mary-Anne Mace is just lovely!
Please note that we do not carry the pattern itself: you must get it from Mary-Anne on her Ravelry page. What we do carry is some gorgeous yarn and beads for you to use to knit it with!
The Design
Here is what Mary-Anne writes:
Spring Creek is a versatile shawl that can be knit in either fingering or lace weight yarn, a single colour or stripes.
It uses a variety of relatively simple stitch patterns to provide surface interest, and to pique your knitterly interest as well. The piece is finished with a striking, beaded lace border depicting dragonflies in flight.
This shawl can be knit in either lace weight yarn or fingering weight yarn, in a single colour, or in two contrasting colours.
The Yarn and Colorways
What we are offering in this kit is lace weight yarn. It is not the same yarn that the designer used in her original piece.
You can see it on the top picture, the inset photo there, and agan below that. The other photos show Mary-Anne's original piece (with her permission) so you can get an idea of the design.
What is recommended for the lace weight version is about 656 yards total. We have put together your choice of 3 lovely kits:
****
Kit A uses a beautiful yarn from Shibui, Lunar which is 60% extrafine merino/ 40% mulberry silk, with 401 yards per 50g skein. Two skeins will make up one kit.
The colorway is Imperial, a rich and striking solid color, a red-violet fit for royalty for sure.
****
Kit B is made up of Lace from Malabrigo, 100% baby merino with 470 yards/ 50g. Again, two skeins will be in each kit.
The colorway is Zarzamora, a tonal cool blend of varying purples and greens. Quite beautiful indeed.
****
Kit C is again Lace from Malabrigo. This colorways is Camaleon, a bit more variegated, mostly blues and greens with a bit of rust and gold tones as well.
*****
Kit A is a bit more expensive than Kit B or C -- the additional cost is noted via the drop-down menu.
