I tend to get drawn to knits with unusual looks and construction.
Sunbird by Teri B certainly fits the bill.
Be sure to get your pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page here. What we offer is yarn that will work well plus the option of getting beads to add to your piece.
Here is what Teri writes:
Sunbird is a lacy semi-circular shawl knit from the bottom edge-up. It is meant to be knit using a single skein (420m/459yards) of fingering weight yarn.
Note that she also says that she rates the difficulty level of this shawl as Advanced, if you’re not familiar with knitting lace. "You’ll have to do lace on both the right and the wrong side for the feather lace pattern. You’ll also have to work many ‘pass slipped stitch over 2 knit stitches’ during another section of the shawl."
We do not offer the exact yarn that Teri used in her original piece. You can see what we have in the inset photo on the top picture and again below that.
Each kit will include one skein of Alegria from Manos. This is 75% superwash merino/ 25% nylon, with 445 yards (405m) per 100g skein.
We have two color choices:
Tumeric is a bright golden sunflower color.
Royal is a rich royal blue.
No, Teri does not use beads in her original piece. But I see lots of places where beads would look very fine indeed.
If you would like a 35g container of size 6/0 beads, we have that option via a drop-down menu above. This will give you about 400 to 420 beads to be placed wherever you decide you want them.
If you have a preference on bead color, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
