We just got in some lovely new yarn sets from Anzula of what they refer to as Squishy Skeinettes.
And then I saw this lovely new design by Taiga Hilliard Designs -- Taurid was particulary designed around these set!
Note that it would be best to get the pattern directly from Taiga's Ravelry page. This will save it in your Ravelry library and make sure that any updates reach you right away.
Here is what Taiga writes:
Taurid is a great starter project for a beginner, but interesting enough for someone more advanced.
This is knit sideways with a little lace mixed in.
The Yarn and Colorways
We show the photos of Taiga's original shawl (© Taiga Hilliard Designs) with her permission.
The yarn for the short bursts of colors are the same Squishy Skeinettes from Anzula that she used. These are sets of five small skeins, each 67 yards + or - for a toal of 335 yards. These are of 80% superwash merino/ 10% cashmere/ 10% nylon. And feel absolutely delicious!
The colors are specially selected to work beautifully together.
Now Taiga used Squishy from Anzula also as her background yarn. Instead of that, we have other solid and almost-solid yarns, as described in each kit below.
The shawl you see on these pages, shown with the designer's permission, uses the set called Knitting in the Rain. This includes Charcoal, Storm, Lapis, Seabreeze and Nimbus.
The contrast almost-solid skeins are from Madeline Tosh their Tosh Merino Light, a 100% merino with 420 yards (384m) per skein. As you will need 650 yards, two skeins will be included in each kit.
The colorway is Moonglow and is a very pale grayed blue.
One kit for Kit A will include one set of the Squishy Skeinettes in Knitting in the Rain and two skeins of Moonglow. (Sorry, sold out)
Again the bursts of color will be from a set of Squishy Skeinettes. This time the colors are called Wuthering Hanks and include Seaside, Peach, Bubblegum, Irene, and Sea Foam.
The contrast solid colored yarn for this kit is from Shalimar Yarns and is their Paulie. This is a 60% superwash merino/ 20% camel/ 10% cashmere/ 10% silk,w ith 420 yards per skein.
Our colorway is called Midnight in Mendoza and is a deep wine that contrasts wonderfully with all the colors of the skeinettes.
For Kit B, you will get one set of Squishy Skeinettes in Wuthering Heights and two of Paulie in Midnight in Mendoza.
The Squishy Skeinettes in this kit is called Citizen Skein and are a lovely range of neutral greys, including Gravity, Hippo, Pewter, Charcoal and Black.
Our contrast yarn will be the Malabrigo Mechita (100% merino superwash with 420 yards/ 100g skein) in Art Nouveau, a very subtly variegated yarn that looks at first glance to be black and then on further scrutiny one sees many nuances of colors.
Kit C will give you one Citizen Skein and two Art Nouveau skeins.
