A beautiful design by Sivia harding!

This was originally developed for the Shakespeare in Lace 2009 club, but now is available for everyone.

As Sivia writes, "A tale of loves lost and found again, mistaken identities, royalty hidden away in the forest ---and one of the greatest heroines put to paper -- this is Shakespeare's comedy, "As You Like It." In this garment I tried to capture Rosalind's trials and tribulations as she strives to rescue her kingly father and gain the love of her life, all the while disguised as a boy.

"The yarn is humble enough, a fingering weight shetland, but the design is complex and rich, featuring cables, lace, beads, and a labyrinthine center panel.

"I hope you will agree that although the "plot" may go far afield, all comes right in the end, and with a regal beaded flourish too!"

A marvelous shawl -- this uses 1,200 yards of your choice of fingering to sport weight yarn (while the original was shetland wool fingering but you can choose what appeals) plus 780 of size 6/0 beads. (Sivia used 4mm megatamas in her original.)

The beads will be added via the crochet hook method, so you will need one of the very thin crochet hooks (about 0.6mm/ US 14).

The directions are charted.

The finished measurements are 77" across at the widest point after blocking, 32.5" long at the center back, after blocking.

This is a real beauty -- not a simple knit but a most rewarding one.
