These are lovely scarves, designed by Dorothy Siemens of Fiddlesticks Knitting for small quantities of lace weight yarn.

The Whisper Scarves are soft wisps inspired by Orenburg lace patterns and both are included in one pattern. The top scarf is an unusual oval shape and the bottom scarf is a rectangle. These are garter stitch scarves, but there is lace patterning on both sides.

Any laceweight mohair yarn will work and look very fine. The pattern was designed using 1 ball of Filatura di Crosa "Baby Kid Extra," for each scarf, with one 25 gram ball being 245 meters (about 270 yards).

These were originally made (as the photographs show) with a finished size of 40 inches long and 15 inches wide -- be aware that longer scarves can easily be made by working more repeats and using extra yarn. I've seen these and I have to say that they are gorgeous -- I much prefer them longer, though that is a personal preference.

Looser knitters should figure on using 3.5 mm (US 4) and tighter knitters using 4.5 mm (US 7) size needles.

Fiddlesticks Knitting patterns are charted and recommended for Intermediate knitters.

Beautiful!

P.S. Take a look at our new Pura Kid Mohair Silk yarns in the lace weight yarn section -- these would be marvelous for these, I think.
