Strikingly beautiful!

A new creation from Ursa Major Knits, we have brought in the exact yarns that Chris used to create the version of Thrills with Frills that you see on these pages.

The Design

Here is what the awesome designer writes:

Have some fun with Thrills with Frills

Shawl designs have changed incredibly over the last few years. Traditional shapes such as triangles, crescents, circles, semi circles, and squares have been replaced with newer, more spectacular designs.

A good example of this is Thrills with Frills. The photographs show just how quirky these new shawls can be...

Thrills with Frills will in fact give you two shawls for the price of one. It is fully reversible and each side is guaranteed to give you a completely different look. One side enhances one color whereas the second colour dominates on the other side. This gives you a lot more opportunity to blend to it with the clothes in your wardrobe.

Thrills with Frills is a seamless modular knit. Although the shape looks very intricate, the principle is easy to memorise. After knitting the first few modules you will easily be able to continue without having to continuously consult the pattern.

You’ll find the instructions for the first round of modules in written and charted form, enriched with ample photo tutorials on the techniques of shaping and joining the modules. Those who feel safer with instructions rather than following a principle will find a helpful table to guide you through your whole project.

The Yarns and Colorways

Each kit will consist of two balls each of two colorways of Schoppel's Zauberball Cotton.  These are made up of 100% Certified Organic Cotton (!!) and have 459 yards(420 meters)/ 100g ball.

Each colorway has loooooong color runs, so long in fact that the full range is not in each ball.

1.  Rosige Zeiten (translates to Rosy Times in English) is mostly a play on pinks and greens, including rose and sage and chartreuse.

2.  Altes Rom (translates to Old Rome) showcases a tonal span of reds and oranges, including rosewood and apricot and hues in between.

The finished shawl shown on this page was knit in these exact colorways in these exact yarns.

The Pattern

Please note that the cost of the pattern has not been automatically added to this kit. We offer three options:

If you would like to get the pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page, then please set the drop-down menu to "No Pattern Needed."  This will save the pattern for you in your Rav library and also ensure you get any updates as soon as they are released.

Alternatively we can print out the pattern for you, 17 pages in all.  Set the drop-down menu accordingly.

Or we can email you the pattern.  That is not automatic; expect to receive your pattern the day that your kit ships.
