I am totally amazed by Nim Teasdale. She comes up with such lovely lovely lovely designs and still manages not to repeat herself.
Here is her new Troubadour. She writes:
Troubadour is a top down shawl of alternating waves of knit lace and contrasting garter bands. Perfect for playing with colour, it creates a lyrical, rippled effect, somewhat like the chorus and refrain of a song...
An unusual spine construction makes for an engaging and satisfying knt, and the shallow triangle shape makes it easy to wrap and drape.
Wow, what a marvelous way to play!
The Yarn
Nim writes, Ideal for showing off two or more complementary colours, a gradient yarn worked from both ends of the cake, or for yarns of different texture in the same colour.
And this, which is so liberating: Suits lace to bulky weight yarn.
Nim suggests anywhere between 328 - 1094 yards (300 - 1000 m), though of course with such a range of weights the finished sizes will also be quite variable. Again, I quote Nim: The waves can be continued to any size, allowing the shawl to be adapted to any yardage.
