A breathtaking design by Ilona Dmitrieva, Tulip Mood is for the adventurous lace knitters among us!
Be sure to get the pattern directly from the designer on Ravelry here. What we have is beautiful yarn for this plus the option to get beads.
Tulip Mood is a semicircle-shaped lace shawl knitted from the top down. The design was inspired by the Tulpenmotiven pattern published in Kunststricken, 807 (1963).
Yarn and Colorway
She says also that:
Lace-weight natural fibers yarns will be perfect for this knitting project.
Gauge is not crucial and can be changed to fit the desired yarn. You may need to adjust the needle size and yardage needed if using a different weight yarn. Your shawl may end up being larger or smaller depending on the weight of the yarn and your individual way of knitting.
The sample shown used 640 m 700 yds, or about 80 grams of yarn.
Our yarn is not the same as what Illona used for her original.
What we have put together are kits using Shibui's Lunar, a lace weight yarn of 60% Extra Fine Merino + 40% Mulberry Silk with 401 yds / 365 m, 1.76 oz / 50 g.
Two skeins will make up your kit -- to give you a total of about 802 yards.
The colorway is Twilight, a soft medium blue with just a hint of violet to it -- truly the sky at twilight.
No, Illona does not specify beads in this design but if you'd like some, we offer the option of getting a 35g container of size 8/0s. That will give you about 1,400 beads.
If you have a preference on color, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
