Tulips is a most lovely new creation by Paola Albergamo.
Please get your pattern directly from the designer, via her Ravelry page here. What we have put together is a kit for knitting this.
Here is what Paola writes:
Tulips Shawlette is small, lovely piece with tulip modules around the border.
The body of the shawl is worked sideways in garter stitch, with short rows to obtain an gently curved shape.
The tulip modules are then worked in garter stitch and attached to the body seamlessly while working.
Yarn and Colorways
The yarn we offer in this kit is not the same as what Paola used in her original shawl. You can see what we have in the inset photo on the top picture on this page and again below that.
We wanted to keep this a light summery creation and so our kits are made up of Basis from Trendsetter.
Basis is an intriguing mix of fibers, being made up of 75% Cotton + 16% Alpaca + 9% Cashmere. Each 50 gram ball has +/- 210 yards.
Basis is dyed in quite an interesting way. You will notice that we show each colorway that we include in this shawl, including a photo of its swatch. The color changes are quite subtle and enhance the depth of the whole.
Here are what we offer for this kit, a total of 5 balls of yarn:
MC. Shades of Grey: A pale rendering of very very light grey (almost cream) and slightly deeper hues. Three balls will be in each kit giving a total of 630 yards (Paola recommends at least 550 yards or 500m).
CC1: Sky-Moss for the leaves and separation lines. The colors here are a soft blue and a sage green. The woods in early spring perhaps.
CC2: One ball of Raspberry-Orange for the flower motifs. The yarn starts out white and dyed with a combination of raspberry and orange. This is a lovely flower garden of a colorway.
