It is always exciting when Susanna IC sends us a new pattern. This one originally was published in Knit Circus and is now available as itself.

Here is how Susanna IC describes it:

"This crescent shawl is inspired by the deepening blues of an evening sky when the first stars start flickering through. This effect is further enhanced by the yarn with its beautiful shifting colors.

"Twilight’s unique shape lends itself to numerous ways of draping and wrapping; it can even be simply tied like a scarf. Knitted out a single skein of Kauni wool, this versatile shawl will surround you in warmth through the cold season, yet it is light enough for spring and autumn use."

Well, the original may have been knitted out of a single skein of Kauni wool, but it doesn't have to be. Susanna assures us that any lace or fingering weight yarn will work just fine. There is no specific gauge listed for lace, but the pattern includes a note about changing the needle sizes for lace yarns. If you check on Ravelry, you'll see a lovely example of Twilight done in lace weight where the knitter used US 7 for the smaller needle.

Figure on about 655 yards of yarn (maybe a bit more for the lace weight so it doesn't end up too small). You can happily use any of our Gradiance sets from The Unique Sheep or even the Melody yarns from JojoLand with their long color repeats and get a marvelous look.

And take off on a great knitting adventure!
