Every now and then I find some beads that simply allow my imagination to take flight.
Recently I have rediscovered Mood Beads (also called Mirage Beads), intriguing beads made up of liquid crystals that change color depending on the temperature surrounding them. If you remember the "mood rings" of the 1960s, the color of the stone changes as one wears it.
Adding these beads to bracelets makes for stunning jewelry. We have had one such bracelet on our website for a while: the Northern Lights is a real beauty, if I do say so myself.
The bracelet we are introducing today uses smaller 3mm mood beads. These beads are black at their coldest range and bloom into blues and greens as they warm.
We alternated them with Crystal AB leaves. The overall look is one of frozen leaves with tiny berries in between, which change color as one wears them.
It is subtle.
Which makes me think of the way colors appear in the winter, surprising spots of color on a frozen plain..
The main players on this piece are the leaves, dancing and moving as the wrist moves. And showing hints of color peeking through.
If you look between the leaves on the photos you will notice differences in the coloration of the smaller beads -- we tried to take photos of them in varying degrees of warmth from our hands and breath so you would be able to see this. Some of the photos show this better than others.
The toggle clasp is lovely -- heavier than most, it sports great swirls and a most unique shape.
For the thread we are going with silver, to enhance the glow....
Every kit will come with the thread, the clasp, plenty of small 3mm mood beads, and enough leaves to make a bracelet that is about 7 1/2" to 8".
The original used size 0 US/ 2mm knitting needles (not included in kit).
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern.
We offer three options. I know some knitters have made so many of our knitted bracelets that they might feel they do not need another pattern. That's fine --- simply choose "No Pattern Needed."
Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you via email, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
