Another of Nim Teasdale's Leaf Cycle , this one had been her first design of that collection.

Here is how Nim describes it:

Winterleaf is a top-down lace crescent, with optional beading.

It offers several variables to play with -

Start the lace when you like - right at the start for an allover leaf pattern

or after a plain section as large or small as you like, in stockinetter or garter.

The main leaf lace is indefinitely repeatable - keep going until you are ready to start the twig-like edging.

The edging is also repeatable, so you can knit until you run out of yarn, or skip the edging altogether and finish the leaves off with a simple picot edge.

Inspired by the last leaves that linger into winter, gradually revealing their delicate tracery. In the depths of winter, they remind us of the beauty of autumn and the promise of spring to come.

I love this!

Plus, the pattern is both written and fully charted with the pattern rows worked on the right side only.

Adaptable to many weights of yarn, you'll find this pattern can be used in a myriad of ways. I really like having options to make my knitting totally unique to me, don't you?
