Arches Shawl is a beautiful new beaded piece by Anne-Lise Maigaard.

The Design

Here is what Anne-Lise writes:

Difficulty: Medium. Both complete charts and row-by-row written pattern given with stitch counts where relevant. US crochet terms used.

Shown in colourway “Fire Rose”.

2 skeins needed for size as showed (172 g or 688 m/752 yards were used).

Construction: You will begin with just a few sts at the center top and work down and out from there.

Beads: Optional. 361 beads in all. Beads are placed on the stitch before working it (not pre-strung on yarn). Number of beads will change if you change the size of the shawl.

Size: 52 cm/20.5 inches down center back, 190 cm/75 inches wingspan when worked as written. You can make the shawl larger or smaller as described in the pattern. Changing the size will change the amount of yarn needed.

Yarn and Colorways

As noted above, you will need a bit less than 800 yards to crochet this beauty.  Our kits do not offer the same yarn as what the designer used in her original. You can see our selections in the inset photo on the top picture on this page and again below that

Our kits consist of two skeins of Alegria in the colorway you choose, each of 75% superwash merino + 25% nylon, with 445 yards/ 100g skein.

We offer your choice of two colorways:

Lavender is a light wisteria.

Taffeta is a deeper rich royal purple.

Beads

Yes, the beads are optional but we will be including them in each kit.  Anne-Lise suggests a total of 361 beads.

We will be giving you a bit more than that (35g = roughly 420 + or - a few).

If you have an idea of what color of bead you would like for your kit, let me know.  Otherwise i will choose for you.

Take a look at JudithH's project here on Ravelry for great photos showing how the beads fit into the overall design.

The Pattern

The cost of the pattern has not been factored into this kit.

Some knitters will prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Anne-Lise via her Ravelry web page. In that case, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "To be bought from designer." And if you want the pattern saved in your Ravelry library, this is the way to go.

Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, then the "Pattern" drop-down menu should be set to that.

We also can set you up with a pdf of the pattern, saved on this website in your account section.

Make your choice via the drop-down menu above.
