These really appeal to me! A quick knit for warm mittens for the wintertime, knit in delicious yarns.
This is a chance to add vibrant colors to the mostly monochromatic landscape that is winter. Color brings joy!

The Design
Here is what the designer, Cynthia Spencer, writes about these Fake-out Thrummed Mittens:
Introducing: Fake-Out Thrummed Mittens! Say goodbye to the thrumming hassle and hello to the ultimate in coziness. These mittens feature a genius design: Instead of traditional thrums, they showcase a luxurious thick yarn, such as the fabulous Malabrigo Rasta. You simply strand, rather than having to add separate thrums. The result is a toasty mitten that feels smooth on the inside, and is instantly warm when you put it on.
You’ll find these mittens to be a knitter’s game-changer, providing extra warmth without the knitting fuss. They’re the perfect blend of practicality and fashion-forward flair.
The mittens are sized by the type of yarn you choose. The medium size is made with a worsted-weight yarn plus a super-bulky (as shown). The small is made with a DK plus a super bulky. And the large is made with an Aran plus a super bulky. Malabrigo Rasta will work as the super bulky on any of the other background yarns.
Our yarn and colorways
We have put together some kits using worsted weight yarn plus super-bulky Rasta. Our kits do not use the same colors nor is the other yarn the same as what Cynthia used in her original. You can see what we have put together for our kits in the inset photos on the lower righthand corner of the top picture on this page and again below that.
Our worsted weight yarn is from Ella Rae, their Superwash Classic Wool of 100% wool and with 219 yards/ 100g balls.
And Rasta, from Malabrigo, is 100% merino wool with about 90 yards (82m) per skein.
Kit A:
1. Here is Superwash Classic Wool in the colorway called Purple Crayon (#065), a rich solid.
2. Our Rasta here is what they call a "single lot" colorway. it doesn't have a name but let me describe it: on a cream background, there are splashes of purple, violet, teal, and a few dashes of golden brown.
Kit B:
1. Again, we have Ella Rae's Superwash Classic Wool as the worsted weight, this time in a gorgeous Fuchsia.
2. The Rasta is a colorway called Yo-Yo, with similar colors to the one in Kit A but more of the colors and less of the cream. I see pink and rose, aqua, turquoise and teal, violet and royal purple and subtle dots of golden brown.
