A new beauty from Sivia Harding, this Leafwise shawl combines the best of all possible worlds.
Here is how Sivia describes it:
The leaves have it in this delightful crescent-shaped shawl.
The Leafwise Shawl enlarges the crescent shape into a wrap silhouette with a charming double-wide beaded swath of leaf lace motifs.
There are three sections: the wide lace edging, the stockinette stitch center that shapes the crescent, and a clever tubular edge on top. The shawl is worked from side to side.
The shawl can be made in your choice of two sizes. The small one is 54"/137 cm wide and 13.25"/33.5 cm long at center back while the large is 69"/175 cm wide and 19"/48 cm long at center back.
The photos show the shawl in large size.
The original shawl is shown here, photos by Barbara Gundle. All one needs is a fingering weight yarn.
Bead-wise, the design calls for size 6/0 seed beads, 390 (510) for size small (large). And the beads are placed with the add-as-you-go crochet hook method.
So go browse in our Fingering Weight section and have a marvelous time imagining it all coming together! This will be a marvelous piece to make.
