It is always such a wonderful day when Sivia Harding releases a new design and this one promises to be extra-special indeed!
Here is wrote Sivia wrote:
"I have just released a new beaded shawl pattern for Spring.
"Belle Nuit, or Beautiful Night, portrays an explosion of falling stars over a night sky. Make your wishes known as you knit this shawl that is worked from the top down featuring one of my favorite constructions: center panel with additional shoulder shaping. The side lace panels are outlined with a subtle cable or twisted stitch pattern, depending on how you choose to work the stitch, and you may choose to end the shawl with a delightful optional beaded picot bind off.
"Shawl is worked from the top down, starting at center back neck. Beads are placed using the crochet hook add-as-you-go method. Lace patterns are written and charted. Instructions are given for two sizes, scarf and shawl.
"The smaller scarf size is a perfect one-skein project for sock yarn; the shawl size requires two skeins."
The photos that you see here were all taken by Vivian Aubrey, especially to show the glories of this piece.
You will want fingering weight yarn, figure on a 100 gram skein for the scarf (a little less than 400 yards will work -- Sivia used one with 375 yards to 115 gram skein and another with 395 yards to a 100 gram skein in her originals) and 200 grams for the shawl. For the beads, you will want size 6/0s, 116 for the scarf, 258 for the shawl, plus 184 (348) more for the optional beaded picot bind off.
Yum!
This one is superbly gorgeous!
