A very impressive sets of wristlets that are quite simple to make -- and will be a marvelous addition to the holiday season, whether as a gift or as an adornment to your own wrists!
Make sure to get the pattern directly from the designer, Galina Zapletnuka, on her Ravelry page here. What we have put together is yarn and beads to with which to knit these.
The pattern is both written and charted.
The Design
Here is what Galina writes:
✨ This pair of beaded cuffs will light up your Christmas and get you into the festive mood as you knit. Quick to make and a pleasure to wear, these cuffs are also a perfect last minute Christmas gift. Experiment with bead colours to get the desired amount of bling this winter.
✨ Christmas Lights Beaded Cuffs are knitted flat and sideways, with pre-strung beads of two colours incorporated into your knitting as you go. This project is all garter and has no purl stitches! Provisional cast on allows for grafting the first and last rows creating a seamless tube.
Yarn and Colorways
Our yarns are not the same as what Galina used for her originals. You can see what we have put together in the inset photo on the top picture and again below that.
Our yarn is called Inka, and is made up of 64% Viscose + 36% Baby Alpaca with 442 yards/ 75g.
I love what the Mirasol people wrote about Inka:
Inka derived its name from the ancient meaning in the Quechan language: "one who shines or glows and who also is able to gather power and living energies and distribute them to wherever and whomever needs it". The yarn has a very unique iridescent sheen to it, hence it is the "one who glows" and it is sure to appeal to the most adventurous of knitters.
It really does (glow, that is)!
The original cuffs that Galina knit used roughly 109yds (100m).
We offer two colorways:
1. Iolite is a deep charcoal with a blue-ish cast and some silvery highlights.
2. Amethyst is just that; it is a medium purple, rich and sweet.
Beads
Galina suggests size 8/0 beads. Our beads will be very high quality, either Miyuki or Toho.
The original cuffs used two colors, color A as blue (194 beads ) and color B as silver (112 beads). We will also choose colors that will stand out yet still look "right" with each yarn color.
