What a neat design!
Dandelion Days was created by Chrissy Page of Left Side Knits. I will let her tell you about this:
"Dandelion Days has a beautiful combination of lace & seed stitch which makes this cowl look more complicated than it actually is to knit. You will be pleasantly surprised to find out how easy it is to memorize the stitch pattern. With both charts and written instructions, knitters are able to choose the most comfortable way to follow the pattern.
"The combination of the stitch pattern and pretty yellow yarn reminds me of a field full of dandelions. What flowers will your combination evoke?"
I love it! And can picture it in all sorts of flower colors -- I can see it in pinks and reds and violets and and and and....
The sky's the limit. Wait, sky blue also....
The pattern is easily customizable to make a smaller/longer cowl and/or shorter/taller cowl. Notes are included as to how to modify the pattern to fit your needs.
Yarn needed is about 375 yards of fingering weight yarn -- when this was tested by others it was found to need anywhere from 313 yards to 400 yards total, depending on gauge.
The photos show a version knit in Plucky Knitter Primo Fingering 75% merino/25% cashmere/5% nylon blend with 385 yards/101 grams in Bottled Blonde though the cowl in total used 313 yards/82 grams.
Needle used was US 5 size (3.75 mm), 24-inch circular, or whatever gets you the gauge of 26 sts/40 rows = 4 inches in stockinette. Note that exact gauge is not important but a looser gauge will result in the use of more yardage.
Finished Size of the original shown here was 30” around by 11” tall.
I love fun, quick knits! And this really fits the bill.
P.S. This web page offers the hard copy of the pattern, all five pages printed out.
