This is an amazing piece!
You might have been aware of the KAL that Susan Pandorf was running on Ravelry as an end-project to her fantastic Lord of the Rings series. Here we are able to present the finished full pattern (printed copy) for In Dreams.
Size: 64 inches across
Materials: 1300 – 1500 yds. Eos or other laceweight yarn
5000 size 8 seed beads (optional)
Size 3 (US) needles or to obtain gauge
Gauge (stockinette st - blocked): 7 st = 1 inch
The model was knit in a five-color sequence of Eos (50/50 wool/silk lace weight yarn) dyed by The Unique Sheep in what they call their Gradiance line. The specific color you see here is named Abalone.
What is Gradiance? The amazing dyers at The Unique Sheep have developed a way of dyeing yarn so that as a set of skeins is used, your project will gradually change from one hand painted color to the next. Some sets have a dramatic shift in color, and others have more subtle transition. The gradually transitioned sets will work well to show off more complicated stitch patterns and lacework because each skein is “almost” solid.
This pattern was designed to take full advantage of this color technique & includes directions for blending. If you choose to use a solid yarn throughout, please disregard them.
The pattern also calls for 5000 beads, applied using the crochet hook method. Again, should you choose not to use them, simply substitute a purl stitch for the beaded purl -- you will have an amazing shawl with or without the added "bling".
Stunning!
I am thrilled to be able to offer this pattern.
