Here is what she writes about the Mittens:
This intricate design is based on my original mitten construction and involves many interesting knitting techniques, such as short rows, intarsia and beading. So fasten your seatbelts, accelerate, and go on a head spinning knit!
The mitten is knitted sideways with two seams (grafts), one along the centre back and another along the inner thumb.
You start knitting at the centre back, work half back, then beaded front, and then second half back. The one-row thumb is incorporated into the body as you knit, similar to a one-row buttonhole.
The pattern is written and charted for three sizes and comes with a package of video tutorials.
And about the Mitts:
This design is a fingerless version of Fast Forward Beaded Mittens.
It shares a lot of design elements and knitting techniques used in the mittens, such as short rows, intarsia and beading, but the fingerless version is slightly easier to make and requires less yarn and a smaller quantity of beads.
What’s more, the mitts look beautiful on both sides and work equally well with or without beads.
Yarn and Colorways
Our kits are made up of different yarn than what Galina used for her pieces. You can see what we offer in lower part of the top picture on this page and again below that.
The yarn is from Dream in Color and is their absolutely delicious Lamb & Goat. Each skein is made up of 90% NZ wool + 10% cashmere and has 180 yards/ 50g.
It truly feels amazing.
The kit consists of one skein each of Sea (a deep teal) and Dove (a soft gray) .
Plus beads!
The Beads
Each kit will include at least 7g of size 8/0 beads or roughly 280 beads + or - a few, enough for either pair.
if you have a preference on bead color, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
