A marvelous hat design by Woolly Wormhead, Hecate is part of her Imperceptions Series.

The Design
Here is what Woolly writes:
This Hat is named for Hecate, the Greek goddess of doorways and crossroads whose three bodies moved as one. Hecate is a jigsaw of connected cubes, working together to create a beautiful pattern from simple shapes.
Each Hat in the Imperceptions collection is knitted bottom-up and in the round. The ideal yarn for these Hats is 4-ply or light sportweight, in a multi-plied fibre with some natural give, such as merino. The illusions look their best in two high-contrast colours.
She says this about the concept of the hats in this series:
Imperceptions is a collection of Hats that uses unconventional stranded colourwork to create the illusion of manipulated fabric.
With carefully placed colour and simple stitches, Imperceptions creates the impression of depth and movement on a flat surface, mimicking the complexities of construction techniques without altering a single stitch.
I love it!
Yarn and Colorways
The yarn is from Malabrigo, their Arroyo, 100% superwash merino, a plied sport weight with 335 yards per 100g.
The colorways are Escorias and English Rose. One skein per colorway makes up this kit.
English Rose is a tonal play on rose and fuchsia.
Escorias is varying browns and charcoal with hints of steel blue.
