I first saw this stunning shawl, created by Chrissy Prange of Left Side Knits when one of Chrissy's test knitters used a gradiance set of Luxe to knit it and posted it on our Ravelry forum and we saw it -- well, you can imagine our excitement.

We went back and forth, talking about how lovely it was, and another wonderful knitter volunteered to knit it in another gradiance while adding beads.

And the rest, as they say, is history!

Chrissy sent me the brand-new version of this Karamagara Shawl, modified to add bead placements to the charts.

What we wish to offer here is the pattern -- a hard copy, printed out on heavy weight paper and slid into a sheet protector -- with bead placements indicated on the charts.

Here is how Chrissy describes the original shawl:

"Karamagara is a garter stitch triangle knit with a geometric lace panel for focal interest.

"The name comes from a town in Turkey where there is a bridge that is possibly the earliest known pointed arch bridge. The edging of this shawl evokes the points on the bridge.

"With both charts and written instructions, knitters will be able to choose their most comfortable way to follow the pattern."

All that is needed is approximately 600 yards of fingering weight yarn and about 305 size 6/0 beads, which are added to the shawl via the crochet-hook-add-as-you-go method.

The last photo here shows the shawl knit with beads added.

This is a tremendously beautiful shawl that you can make in a gradiance or in any other fingering weight yarn and be oh-so-very pleased with the creation and the result.
