Oh my!
We are in for such a treat!
Fantastical designer Jane Thornley has come up with a new idea. For a while she was doing a workshop in Nova Scotia every year she does a workshop in Nova Scotia for those lucky enough to be able to attend called Knit a Beach. And one year she wrote it all down so others could come along!
Choose between a hard copy (printed and mailed) or a PDF via the drop-down menu above.
I am going to let Jane tell you herself:
"The water’s warm so let’s knit a beach! If you can dream it, you can knit it. Learn how to knit with an extensive guide rather than a just standard pattern with this evocative knitting workshop. 41 pages of diagrams, photos, instructions, ideas, tips and inspiration plus a guide to knit this adaptable, beachy little vest. ..(Y)ou'll have all you need to knit your own private beach.
"This is the same project we'll be working on at the real Knit A Beach retreat here in Nova Scotia this August but for those of you that can't join me in the flesh, here's a virtual excursion.
"The Knitalong will be running both in Ravelry and on my knitalong site here (follow the link below).
"Experience combining simple stitches to create textures that evoke the blue sea frothed with ocean latte and sand hues of a summer beach.
"Create a vest/tabard design so gorgeous you won’t want to knit just one. Make yours either fitted or loose and easy or apply the techniques used to another pattern maybe even your own design.
"Come on – dive in!"
(Please note this was written back in 2008; the KAL is no longer active.)
So Jane's Knit Along has come and gone. What you get here is Jane's "virtual evocative knitting workshop" . There are 40 + pages of tips, diagrams and sketches, lavishly illustrated with instructions for this little vest in two versions.
