I really really really (really) like the designs of Ute Nawratil.  I find them as a general rule to be unique and tremendous fun to knit, with extremely clear instructions as well.

Here is one that she released called Kontrastprogramm.  We have put together kits for it thrugh the years since its first release and here it is yet again.

Please be sure to get the pattern from her Ravelry page directly.  We simply have put together the yarns needed to knit this beauty.

The Design

Here is what Ute writes:

’Kontrastprogramm’ (sorry, there is no good translation) is a slightly irregular triangular shawl, worked from side to side.

Stockinette sections alternate with with pattern strips, using slipped stitches and tuck stitches (don’t worry if you never heard of those, they are easy).

The monochrome gradient invites you to make your own color experiments, but you should be careful to have enough contrast in the pattern segments. In order to emphasize the small patterns, I recommend a yarn weight of 380 m to 420 m per 100 g

The Yarn and Colorways.

We played around with the yarns that Ute used in her original piece -- keeping the same gradient yarn and adding some different solid colored yarns.

You can see our kits in the inset photos on the top picture on this page and again below that.  The other photos are of Ute's original shawl, shown so you can get a good idea of the design.

*****

The gradient yarn for both kits is from Schoppel, their Zauberball Crazy, with 75% Superwash Wool /25% Nylon  and giving 459 yards per 100 gram ball. The colorway is the same, Domino.

Our Kit

1.This kit has the Zauberball colorway as Domino, a marvelous transition including white, gray, charcoal and blackTwo balls will be in each kit.

The solid colors are from two different yarn companies.

2.The white is Katia's United Socks, 75% wool + 25% nylon and with 100 yards/ 25g. As these are small balls, four will be in each kit.

3. Instead of black we are borrowing from the upcoming holidays and making the second solid colorway a red. This is Laines du Nord's Dolly Baby, 100% superwash merino with 255 yards (233 meters) / 50g ball.  Two balls will be in each kit.

A note: if you want this kit but would rather have black for your third colorway instead of red, just let me know.  I can make the substution.  :-)
