Oh my, yes!

One of my favorites from Nim Teasdale

You can choose the downloadable PDF version of the pattern or the hard copy printed out and mailed -- it is your choice.

There are two parts to this pattern.  The second one, Midnight in Paris - Grand Night, is for those who would like to make a very large shawl.

The Design

Here is how she describes Midnight in Paris:

Midnight in Paris was inspired by the city of lights, love, and elegant architecture, and designed to be simple enough to knit on the hop, (or the Metro, or a cafe..), without having to keep an eye on your pattern.

It is loosely based on the fan of broad avenues that radiate out from the Arc du Triomphe, and with a touch of the Eiffel Tower to the lace at the edges.

Pattern rows are worked on the right side only. Beads are optional, but minimal and fun - this would make a great first beading project.

The pattern is both fully written and charted.

Sizing is somewhat flexible. There are 2 sizes, the original and the grand, and both give options to extend the last section. The edging lace is also indefinitely repeatable for those who really want to finish off the skein.

The one that you see on this page was knit by Nim in the smallest size and used only about 305 yards (290m). It came out to be 105 cm in width x 50 cm depth. The pattern gives options to make the shawl significantly larger, if you so choose.

The Beads

All that is needed, per Nim's note on the pattern, is about 168 beads.
