A lovely design by Nim Teasdale, Mirador is one of her new Knitting by the seat of your pants 1 collection.  These are "mostly garter projects in a variety of shapes, focusing on simple yet interesting 4 row construction, which is easily memorised so you don’t need to carry the pattern around with you all the time."

The Design

Here is how Nim describes this beauty:

Mirador is the Spanish word for lookout. This zigzaggy crescent was dreamed up on a lookout high up in the Sierra Nevada, looking out across row upon jagged row of mountains, towards the sea. To me, this view looked very like a crescent shawl. :)

The sample was worked from both ends of a single cake of yarn, however it would also be I deal for long colour run yarns, handspun, variegateds or striping yarns, or striping a variegated against a solid, or two complementary solids. It’s a fun way to mix up some colours.

The Yarn and Colorways

Nim notes that gauge is not critical with this project and she notes that the overall sizing is adaptable to any yardage of lace to DK weight yarn.  All that one need do is adapt the needles according to your personal preferred density of fabric..

Nim knit her original shawl of 410yards (380m) Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball.  It measures approx. 60 x 170 cm (24x67in) after blocking.
