This is a very tongue-in-cheek joyful design, perfect for this time of year.  It will keep you or your loved one warm as the weather gets chilly and it could be a perfect start to a wonderful Halloween costume.

Get the pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page here.  What we put together are yarns that will work for knitting this smile-marker.

The Design

Here is what Ainur Berkimbayeva writes about her design, So Mush Room:

A wearable mushroom cap for fungi admirers and lovers of everything silly and whimsical!

Make one for you or many of them for all your loved ones for special occasions, Halloween parties, or any special days when you need to put on something that will bring a smile to you and everyone around you!

This hat was inspired by Amanita muscaria, a poisonous but fascinating and adorable mushroom to behold! Mushroom foraging is something I grew up with and bonded over with my brother. Whether we found anything or not, every outing was full of excitement and adventures. I hope making and wearing this hat will bring a sense of adventure to you!

Yarn and Colorways

We do not have kits using the same yarns that Ainur used in her original pieces.  You can see what we have in the inset phtos on the top picture and again below that.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4) to fit baby (child, adult small/medium, adult large) with head circumference of:
16-18¼ (18½-21¼, 21½-23¼, 23½-25)“

Our kits should give enough yardage for all but the very largest size of the hat.

Our Kit A uses Rios from Malabrigo, 100% superwash merino, with 210 yards/ 100g, one skein each of:

1. Instead of the white that the original was knit in, we chose Gris, a medium gray.

2. And for the mushroom "cap", Ravelry Red, a rich true red.

Our Kit B uses Ella Rae Superwash Classic Wool, 100% superwash wool with 219 yards/ 100g.

1. #83 is a deep periwinkle, not quite blue, not quite violet but a right between the two.

2. #76 is a vibrant pink, not quite fuchsia but close.

Perfect for any dancing elves in your family... :-)
