The Design
Here is what Jennifer writes:
Seven different slipstitch patterns create intricate textures in this infinity loop cowl, pairing a self-striping contrast yarn with a neutral main color.
Slipping stitches using only one color per row lets the yarn do all the work, creating a striking accessory.
Fingering weight yarn makes a scarf with a versatile weight that can be worn as one long loop, or doubled for more warmth and a riot of textures.
Yarn and Colorways
Jennifer's original cowl measures 54” length and 7” depth (after blocking) and took one skein each of Urth Yarns Harvest Fingering (100% superwash merino wool; 435 yards/400m/100g), and Urth Yarns Uneek Fingering (100% superwash merino wool; 435 yards/400m/100g).
We have chosen a different color combination for the Uneek colorway and a different almost-solid yarn for the contrast skein. You can see our choices in the inset photos to the right of the top picture on this page and again below that.
Kit A:
1. Uneek Fingering in colorway #3025. Here are medium-long color runs in rich tones of royal blue, sky blue, spring green, true green, indigo and a few spans of turquoise primarily.
2. (75% alpaca + 25% nylon, 459 yards (420m)/ 100g) in Calypso, a rich birght turquoise. This turquoise is decidedly deeper and darker than the light spans of turuqoise in the Uneek yarn.
Kit B:
1. Uneek Fingering in colorway #3030. I see gray, ecru, beige, pale sky blue, green, lime, brown, teal and olive.
2. Malabrigo's Mechita (100% superwash wool, 420 yards (384m)/ 100g) in Oro, a tonal blend of golds, some deeper than others but the whole an almost-solid.
Pattern
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern and the cost of the pattern has not been factored into the cost of the kit.
I know some knitters might prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Jennifer via her Ravelry web page. In this case, set the drop-down menu to "No pattern needed" as you will be getting it from there.
Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
You can also get the pattern as a pdf, saved on this website under your Account setting.
