Our first sets of yarn sold out super-fast so this is "Kit 2", made up of a very similar pair. Read on for more data.
This is quite an unusual knit; Painting With Beads by Pope Vergara is a marvelous scarf by where you actually create designs using beads.
Get the pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page here. What we have is a kit of yarn plus beads with which you can create your own.
Alternatively, if you already have yarn you'd like to use for this piece and are just interested in getting beads, we are offering that option via the drop-down menu labeled "Choose".
The Design
I quote Pope here:
In this pattern, you will learn how to knit the “Paint with Beads Scarf,” a shawlette in stockinette stitch flat adorned with beads resembling small paintings.
The edges feature an i-cord finish with slipped stitches, giving a clean and professional look.
This pattern is easy to knit and perfect for using your leftover beads. Ideal for knitters of all levels, this project combines simplicity and beauty, offering a unique and eye-catching piece.
Yarn and Colorways
Pope knit her original using a fingering weight yarn held together with a lace weight mohair blend. She does say that one can simply subsitute a DK weight yarn instead -- however, we have put together kits following her lead.
Our yarns are not the same as the ones she used; you can see ours in the inset photo on the top picture on this page and again below that.
Each kit will have one ball of the following for you to knit with one strand of each held together:
1. For this Kit 2, our smooth yarn is Laines du Nord's Eco Baby, 100% wool with 191 yards/ 50g ball.
The colorway is Magenta, a rich deep fuchsia.
2. From Lana Grossa, SetaSuri is a blend of 69% Suri Alpaca + 31% Silkwith 230 yards in each 25 gram hank.
We have found that those who are sensitive to mohair blends are not sensitive to alpaca blends and this gives a very similar look.
The colorway is Burgundy, a deep rich wine.
Beads
Beads are an integral part of this design and included in each kit.
We will give you a set of 6 bead colors very close to what Pope lists here but with differences as our yarn colors are different and we want the beads and the yarn to look right together.
Here is the listing that Pope gives:
Bead 1: Miyuki / round 6/0 / color: gold / 238 units or 22 g.
Bead 2: Miyuki / round 6/0 / color: light blue / 66 units or 6 g.
Bead 3: Miyuki / round 6/0 / color: pink / 170 units or 16 g.
Bead 4: Miyuki / round 6/0 / color: orange / 16 units or 2 g.
Bead 5: Miyuki / round 6/0 / color: green / 36 units or 4 g.
Bead 6: Miyuki / round 6/0 / color: blue / 50 units or 5 g.
Again, as I wrote above, if all that you would like is a bead set, it is available via the drop-down menu labeled Choose.
