A wonderful mitten, perfect for this time of year!

The pattern is free and should be gotten directly from the designer, Ash Kavanagh, on her Ravelry page here.   While you are there, you should take a look at some of her other designs -- really lovely.

We chose this one for now as it is a relatively fast knit and could serve you particularly well at this time of year.

Our kits consist of yarn only for knitting these beauties.

The Design

Here is what the designer writes:

Strong, and powerful, the Queen of the underworld but also the bringer of Spring. You can be a Hell-raising infernal nymph but also enjoy the bright colours of the change from Winter.

Kidnapped by Hades to live in the Underworld, Persephone was the sweet daughter of the goddess Demeter. Associated with changing of seasons and rebirth, but also leading the dead between the mortal realm and the afterlife, Persephone is the queen of contrast. Use high-contrast colours in your yarn choices, to knit a jumper the goddess of Spring would be proud of.

Yarn and Colorways

The mitts are knit using fingering weight yarn.  We have put together some kits with Madeline Tosh's Unicorn Tails.  Each Unicorn Tail is 52 yards (48 meters)  of 100% merino.

Each kit gives you four of these skeinettes in four different colorways for a total of 260 yards.

Unfortunately, though I have emailed the designer, I do not have yardages needed for each colorway.  I took an educated guess, based on other mitt designs. if you would like to double up on any (black perhaps?) just let me know and we can set that up for you as long as we have stock.

This is a kit that reflects the colors of this season with an option:  If you would like to make it quite Halloween-ish, choose Kit A ; if you would like to expand the seasonal wear, you might prefer choosing Kit B.

Kit A:

1. Onyx:  pure and simple black.

2. Citrus: an orange with subtle tonal variations

3. Sugar Coat: creamy white

4. Lost in Trees: varying tonalities of greens.

Kit B:

1. Onyx:  pure and simple black.

2. Coquette: a rich magenta, with slight tonal variations

3. Sugar Coat: creamy white

4. Translation: varying tonalities of sky blue.

(note that we are not giving you a fifth colorway for the short sections that are shown in pink on the photo here.)
