This is a true smile-maker. And while is likely not cold enough for hat in your part of the world right now, I have it on good authority that winter will return. :-) Not only that, this would make for a great gift if you want to get started on the gifting season.

The Design
Here is what Belinda writes:
If you love sparkle this is the hat for you!
The Punk Rock Princess Hat layers the glitz by combining a fingering weight yarn with glass beads to bring a simple, symmetrical pattern to life.
It is the perfect hat for when you want to add a little twinkle to dreary winter days. The weight of the glass beads gives the hat an elegant drape without making it heavy to wear.
A straightforward construction consisting of knitting in the round, basic decreases and beading is suitable for adventurous beginners or relaxing for experienced knitters. No experience knitting with beads is necessary, I have included a link to my favorite beading tutorial to make it simple.
You will be a beading expert by the time you finish this hat!
Yarn and Colorways
We do not offer kits using the same yarn as what Belinda used for her original. You can see what we have in the inset photos on upper left-hand corner of the top picture and again below that.
Belinda used Tosh Merino Light + Glitter which, unfortunately, is no longer being made. However, we do have just a few skeins of one colorway in that yarn left in stock! Plus we were able to get some of the very last skeins of TML (Tosh Merino Light) + Copper which is very similar, the glittery threads being subtle and very slightly copper-ish in look.
So you have a choice here -- just know that there are very few of each of these possible and kits cannot be repeated quite like this in the future.
Both yarns are made up of 90% Superwash Merino Wool, 8% Acrylic, 2% Stellina
and giving 420yds/384m per 100g.
Where Belinda's original was knit in Onyx, our kits offer other colorways:
In the TML + Glitter we have Spectrum, a beautiful variegated blend of cool colors including purples, blues, and greens.
This, obviously, is not really a "punk rock" colorway -- but it is beautiful and will make for a most lovely hat, with a lot of beaded bling. :-)
In TML + Copper we have Leopard, a tonal play on charcoals, some tones lighter and some deepr. The copper also tends to give it a slightly brownish cast.
This will give you a hat that is a lot closer to the original look.
One sekin will give enough yardage for either size hat:
Size 1 (Teen/Women’s Small):To Fit 19-21” (48-53cm)
Size 2 (Women’s Large): To Fit 22-24” (56-61cm)
Beads
The hat requires size 6/0 beads, 742 for size 1 and 901 for size 2. We will include at least that many.
There are quite a few bead colors I like for these. Silver (Silver Lined Crystal or S/L Crystal AB beads) would work for the Spectrum beautifully, as would any of bead colors that picks up on the hues in the colorway itself.
For the Leopard, I tend to like golds or coppers though others would also stand out very nicely.
If you have a particular idea for bead colors, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
