Gorgeous!

We don't put together kits often enough for our crocheters -- and I am trying to remedy that. This one just sings to me and makes me want to dust off my hooks and dig in.

By Lily Go, here is what she writes about the cowl, Road to Yesterday:

Road to Yesterday is a crocheted cowl worked in the round.

With textured body, and trim with beautiful lace, you can make this cowl in any weight of yarn. You can get a cozy and warm cowl with heavier yarn for fall or winter, or dainty and lacey piece with lighter weight yarn to create a dramatic effect to your outfit.

As with all my other patterns, this pattern comes with row-by-row written direction in US crochet term and charts.

Yarn and Colorways

Well, Lily writes that it can be crocheted in any lace, fingering or DK weight yarn. So what we have put together are some kits in DK weight yarns plus beads to work with them.

Lily has written the pattern so you can make it your choice of eight lengths.

Yardage needed for 20 (24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48)“ / 50 (60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120) cm circumference: in DK weight: 185(225, 265, 300, 335, 370, 410, 450) m / 200 (250, 290, 330, 370, 405, 450, 495) yards.

*****

Our yarn is not the same as what Lily used in her original cowls.  Ours is a delicious one from Jody Long. Called Alpamayo, this is a mix of 50% Organic Tanguis Cotton + 50% Baby Alpaca. Each skein has 191 yards/ 100g so it might be a bit heavier than DK but should work beautifully.

You can see our yarns in the inset photo on the lower left-hand corner of the top picture and again below that.

I quote here:

Alpamayo, named for one of the most conspicuous peaks in the Peruvian Andes, is an intoxicating blend of GOTS-certified Organic Peruvian Tanguis cotton and Extrafine baby alpaca. Tanguis Cotton is known to be of exceptional quality because of its soft touch, strength, excellent absorption and high dye affinity. Softer than air, Alpamayo was created for year-round knitting. Extrafine baby alpaca keeps us warm during colder months while organic Tanguis cotton keeps us cool in warmer weather. It's the ideal combination of natural fibers.

Two skeins will be included in each kit so you will have a total of 382 yards, enough for the first 5 sizes Lily lists.

If you would like to add another skein to your kit to make a larger piece, contact me and as long as we have stock we will work with you to set up a special kit. Or simply go with two kits! :-)

We brought in a happy colorway: #8 Flower: a rich deep fuchsia.

Beads

Lily suggests size 6/0 beads for this weight yarn:  70 (84, 98, 112, 126, 140, 154, 168) beads depending on the size.

Each of our kits will include close to 150 size 6/0 beads, enough for the first five sizes.  (Again, for a longer cowl, either contact me or go for two kits which will give you plenty of beads).

If you have a preference on bead color, tell me.  Otherwise I will choose for you.

The Pattern

Note also that the kit will not automatically include the pattern and the cost of the pattern has not been figured into the cost of the kit.

I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Lily via her Ravelry web page. In that case, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "No Pattern Needed."

It can also be found on Lily's Etsy shop.

If you get the pattern directly from Lily via either Ravelry or Etsy, set our drop-down menu to "No Pattern Needed" as you will not need it sent with your kit.

Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, then the "Pattern" drop-down menu should be set to that.

We also can set up the pattern as a PDF, stored here on our website.  That is also an option.
