I just fell in love with this one.  Beautiful and quite unique, dragons (as you know) are very close to my heart.

This is a crochet design -- and it is a real smile-maker.

The Design

Here is what the designer writes:

This pattern comes with instructions to make a Sea Dragon!!

The Sea Dragon has two front leg/flipper options, two styles of heads, 2 styles of eyelids/ears, 1 belly option, 2 tail fin options, and two scale options! Nearly everything you see in the photos is included in the pattern.

All instructions are carefully depicted with words and photos! This pattern features clear step by step instruction with a lot of row-by-row photos. The gauge is not crucial to the pattern as long as the stitches are tight enough to hold stuffing.

This pattern is a total of 68 pages containing a full set of written instructions with photographic illustrations, and there are video tutorials for particular steps and stitches available on my YouTube channel. This Pattern consists of ONE PDF File, and the last 15 pages are Text-Only, Printer-Friendly instructions, but I strongly recommend you still refer to the photographic illustrations throughout the pattern if you have any questions.

The Yarn and Colorways

This kit is yarn and yarn alone, enough to make great little creature!

Please note that we are not putting together kits that use the same yarn or colorways that Megan used.  You can see what we offer in the inset photo on the upper right-hand corner of the top picture and again below that.  The other photos are being used with her permission so you can better see the design.

The total amount of yarn that is needed is between 250 - 350 yards (229 - 320 m) of worsted weight yarn.

The pattern itself breaks it down further into how much you will likely need for the front legs, the front flippers, the head (2 styles), the eyelids (2 styles), the belly, the tail (2 styles), the accent on the tail (again 2 styles) and the scales (2 styles),

I looked at the projects done and find I really like those that used contrasting colors for varying parts of the beast, particularly the belly, the tail accent, and the scales.

So!

We put together kits composed of one ball of Ella Rae Superwash Classic Wool (219 yards/ 100g of 100% superwash wool) which should be enough for the main parts of the body.  Plus two mini-skeins of Alegria Grande (75% merino superwash + 25% nylon, with 50 yards/ 25g skein) in two different colors to allow for accent colors just about wherever you so choose.

Your kit will have a total of 319 yards (219 + 50 + 50). It will contain:

1. One ball of Superwash Classic in Emerald City, a rich deep turquoise/teal.

2. Alegria Grande mini-skeins in Magenta (deep rich red-violet), and Spirulina (bright green-ish yellow).

Plus!

Each kit will include one pair of eyes for this great little creature.  They might be sew-on button types or they might be safety eyes (with post and washer); they are a bit smaller than the ones the designer used.  If you have a preference on type, do let me know.  Otherwise I will choose for you.
