Designed by Maureen Mason-Jamieson of Kinver Beach Knit Design:
Keep warm and toasty in this shadow knit hat and scarf. The self-fringed scarf is knit side-to-side. When viewed straight on, stripes appear; when viewed at an angle, a shadow checkerboard pattern appears.
The hat is created from shadow patterned, miter knit squares. Shadow triangles appear and disappear randomly -- a little magic to banish the winter chill.
Sizes: Scarf: 5-1/2" wide x 46" long (excluding fringe) Hat: 19", 20", 21".
Uses worsted weight yarn, with a gauge of about 18 sts to 4" on size 7 US (4.5mm) needles.
The sample hat was made with Briggs & Little Regal 2 ply yarn, 4 oz (113g) 272 yards. The set here requires a main color and two contrast colors -- figure on about 4 oz of the MC and 2 oz for each of the CC for making both the hat and the scarf.
Fun to make, fun to wear!
